This has been developed as an alternative breathing system to the modified Ayres T-piece and has the advantage of much lower fresh gas flow rates compared with the Ayres T-Piece. The expiratory valve should be fully open at all times and is located at the anaesthetic machine, eliminating the common risk of ‘bag twist’ and occlusion that can occur with the Ayres T-piece.
